Carl May
Carl was appointed Corporate Counsel for the McLean Group in October 2018. Carl’s responsibilities at the McLean Group vary widely. He is responsible for providing legal advice to the ownership and executive teams to inform their decisions regarding operations and business strategy, mitigating legal risk, managing contractual relationships, and ensuring compliance by the Group entities with applicable laws. Carl also performs transactional work for the Group including asset and share purchases, financings, and corporate reorganizations, and specializes in the purchase, sale, and financing of aircraft in Canada. Prior to the recent sale by the McLean Group of its film, production, and IT divisions, Carl oversaw all aspects of leasing requirements for one of Canada’s largest film production facilities, including contract negotiations with all of the major US film studios.
Prior to joining the McLean Group, Carl was a litigation lawyer and subsequently a general solicitor. Carl received his law degree from the University of Victoria in 2012, and his Bachelor of Commerce Degree from the University of British Columbia in 2005.
